Little Havana

This neighborhood, just west of downtown Miami, was flooded with Cubans fleeing the Castro regime in the 1950's. Today, Little Havana attracts a diverse audience, many of whom are looking for a taste of traditional Cuban culture. Some of the area attractions are listed below.

Brigade 2506 Memorial - A monument to those who died in the unsuccessful Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. SW 8th Street and SW 13th Avenue.

Calle Ocho - In the heart of Little Havana - here you can sample Cuban hand-rolled cigars and sandwiches piled high with meats and cheeses. SW 8th Street.

Domino Park - This is a gathering place for Cuban men, who pass the time playing dominos and arguing about politics. SW 8th Street and SW 15th Avenue.

Plaza de la Cubanidad - A monument inscribed with the words of Jose Marti, a hero to Cuban refugees and immigrants who fled to Miami. Flagler Street and SW 17th Avenue.
